Submission Guidelines

General Submission Requirements

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts that align with the journal’s scope. Submissions must:

i. Be written in clear and concise English, not be under consideration by another journal, represent original work not previously published and follow the journal’s formatting and referencing style. All manuscripts should be submitted electronically to the journal’s official email or submission portal (as designated by the Editorial Board).

ii. Manuscript Structure should be arranged in the following order: Title Page, Title of the paper, Author(s) name(s), Institutional affiliation(s), Corresponding author’s email and phone number, Abstract (150–250 words), Introduction (statement of the problem), Review of Related Literature (Theoretical Framework where necessary), methodology, results or findings, discussion of the results or findings, conclusion and recommendations. References which must follow the specified referencing style (APA edition recommended) and appendices (if applicable). Tables and figures must be clearly labeled and numbered consecutively, it must include descriptive titles and sources (if applicable) and should be placed within the text close to where they are referenced.

Keywords

There should be 4–6 relevant keywords

Formatting Requirements

Therequired font size is Times New Roman, 12 withline spacing of 1.5. The margin of 1 inch on all sides is required.The Length: 4,000 - 8,000 words (including references) and the pages should be numbered consecutively.

Submission of Supplementary Materials

Authors may submit additional materials such as: Datasets, questionnaires, and audio or visual materials. These will be reviewed alongside the manuscript and published where appropriate. Each submission must include a cover letter stating: The originality of the work, confirmation that the manuscript is not under review elsewhere, disclosure of any conflicts of interest, and contribution of each author.

Review Timeline

Initial editorial screening: 1–2 weeks,

Peer review process: 4–8 weeks and

Final decision: communicated promptly after reviews.

Considering revision and resubmission, authors are expected to address reviewers’ comments carefully to effects corrections in the comments. Revised manuscripts must be accompanied by a response-to-reviewers document. Acceptance and Proofreading status shows that, accepted manuscripts will undergo copyediting. Publication Fees, the journal charges like peer review fee, and publication fee if the paper is accepted for publication. Details will be communicated to authors upon submission or acceptance.

Corresponding Author Policy

The corresponding author is the individual responsible for managing all communication between the journal and all co-authors before, during, and after the publication process. The corresponding author must ensure that all listed authors have made significant academic contributions to the manuscript, confirm that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript, verify that the manuscript complies with AJASSHE submission guidelines, ensure that the manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere, obtain consent from all co-authors for submission. The responsibilities during submission and review include: Submitting the manuscript through the designated submission channel, acting as the sole point of contact between the journal and co-authors, communicating reviewers’ comments and editorial decisions to co-authors, coordinating timely revisions and resubmission of the manuscript, providing accurate and complete meta or data (author names, affiliations, emails, etc.).

Responsibilities after Acceptance include the corresponding author reviewing and approving proofs on behalf of all co-authors, ensuring that all corrections are accurate and submitted within the stipulated time, coordinating the completion of copyright and licensing agreements and communicating publication details to co-authors. The corresponding author must: ensure transparency in authorship and contributions, disclose any conflicts of interest on behalf of all authors, uphold ethical standards in research and publication, ensure that data presented in the manuscript are accurate and verifiable. In case of changes in authorship or any request to add, remove, or reorder authors the corresponding author must inform the editor in chief. Such requests must include written consent from all co-authors and changes after acceptance are subject to strict editorial approval.

Post-Publication Responsibilities indicate that the corresponding author remains responsible for: responding to inquiries about the published work, cooperating with the journal in case of corrections, clarifications, or retractions, providing additional data or information if requested and in case of contact information, The corresponding author must provide a valid and active email address and  in case of any change in contact details the corresponding author should  promptly communicate the journal.

Manuscript Length

Manuscripts submitted to the Akwa Journal of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Education (AJASSHE) must adhere to the following length requirements: Full-length research articles: 4,000 – 8,000 words (including references, tables, and appendices). This means manuscripts submitted to the Akwa Journal of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Education (AJASSHE) must not exceed 20 typed pages. The page limit includes all components of the manuscript, namely: Title page, Abstract and keywords, Main text (introduction, review of related literature, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion and recommendation), references, tables, figures, and appendices.
