Abstract

Man, especially the African, has been described as being incurably religious. The expressions and intensity of man’s religious flavours have been both historical and legendary. But of late religion has become a suspect standing trial in the court of public suspicion and potential rejection, thereby warranting the view that religion should be expunged from public space. In this paper both sides of the coin have been viewed. The paper proposes that a fusion of religion and society rather than secularization of society should be the way forward for Nigerian society.
